James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ movie tops the worldwide box office with 232 million. According to Reuters, James Cameron’s “Avatar” movie earned an estimated $232.2 million from North America and 106 foreign markets. However,it’s reported that the movie cost at least $300 million dollars to make,so it has a little ways to go to break even. I’m pretty sure it will, though. Avatar’s opening is the 9th biggest opening of all time.
“Avatar” made $73 million dollars in North America,alone,but they were looking to make $85 million so they fell a little short. The top foreign countries were Russia with $21 million, France with $19 million,and the U.K. with $14.2 million. The record for a worldwide opening was set by “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” back in July of this year with $394 million. “Twilight Saga: New Moon” had a $275 million opening last month
